Biographical or Historical Information
Established in Tampa on January 22, 1958, the Florida Genealogical Society states as its purpose: “To honor the memory of our forefathers. To search out and complete the broken lines of our decent. To acquire and preserve records of Genealogy and related History.” The society strives to promote methods of research, family histories, and the study of geography, history and social customs of ancestors, to unite persons interested in the education and endeavors of genealogy, and to encourage public support for the establishment of genealogical materials for research in public and institutional libraries.
