Scope and Contents
This collection consists of assorted materials documenting the personal and professional lives of the Washingtons, an African American familiy in Florida. Documents and records include tax receipts, real estate records, war ration books, fire insurance policies, motor vehicle registrations for hired transport, beauty and fashion advertisements from the 1920s, and postcard books from France. Many of the documents were issued in Hillsborough County, FL, although select items were issued in such other counties as Gadsden and Duval. The collection also includes two photographs from the late 19th or early 20th century.
