Scope and Contents

This collection contains approximately 16,100 postcards that represent Florida's culture, environment and history. Postcards depict a variety of images, such as beaches, streets, hotels and government buildings, plants, landmarks, and tourist attractions. The collection primarily consists of postcards from the first half of the twentieth century. Many have been postmarked and mailed.

Abstract

The collection comprises a small body of material, mostly letters and cards of sympathy to Julia Grillon and her sister on the death of their mother, Ameila, in 1923.  The Grillion Family were early residents of Tampa.

The bulk of this collection includes manuscripts and revised typescripts for the Florida edition of the American Guide series produced by the Works Progress Administration.
