A collection consisting of microfilm records relating to local cemeteries. Includes materials from the City of Tampa Parks Department, City Clerk's Office, the Florida State Archives, A. P. Boza's funeral home records, and Andrew Oladell's papers on burials in Marti-Colon.

Scope and Contents

This collection primarily consists of organizational documents and publications. Also includes photographs, club histories, contracts, circulars, and the society’s ledgers which record the names of members and dues records.

Abstract Henry A. Echezabal's keen interest in the Marti Colon Cemetery resulted in this collection of research materials compiled from 1997 to 2012.  From the records of the earliest burials in the 1880s, to the local news investigative report of 2000, the collection covers several different incidents and offers clues as to how the cemetery ended up embroiled in controversy over the issue of missing bodies and buryovers, covering news stories, City of Tampa records, and correspondence that shed...

Abstract

This collection contains burial home records from four funeral homes in the Tampa area, all acquired by Blount Funeral Home. Records list vital information concerning the deceased, including name, closest relative, race, place of birth, address, date of death, place of death, certifying physician, place of funeral, officiating clergy, parents, and specifics of funeral arrangements; some elements are missing from individual records.
